Before the remodel - yellow countertops and original cabinets from 1948

Removing some tile....yes they painted over pink tile

That closet will be ripped out and replaced with cabinets

Tile floor is getting ripped out also

Tile floor removed and plywood underlayment ripped out

Cabinets ripped out - they were put together with 4 inch nails....one of which managed to stick in my foot

After removing the felt paper, I discovered that a lot of the existing plank subfloor on top of the joists was damaged and warped - why does one project always create more projects

Since the old plank subfloor runs under the walls, I had to leave a portion of it, install blocking all around then tie it back into the new T&G plywood floor. Trying to carry 4x8 sheets of plywood while walking on the joists was a challenge - almost fell into the basement a few times :)

Subfloor is done

Had new red oak hardwood installed by a pro - he did an awesome job - Joseph Slane Flooring. Had premium 3/4" premium unfished red oak installed, then sanded, stained, and then 3 coats of poly. The pic below is right before the stain went on.

Same type as the existing floor and same height - will match up perfect once I get my existing floor refinished

Floor is stained and just waiting for the poly to cure to get started on the drywall

Entire kitchen was rewired with Romex and added 7 recessed can lights. Insulated the ceiling and all of the wall with recycled blue jeans insulation. Its made from scraps when they manufacture blue jeans. Its denser than normal insulation and provides better thermal and sound dampening. Best part about it is that you dont have to wear gloves while installing it because its 100% natural and itch free. It was Doc's favorite place to sleep while I was installing it.

Drywall and cabinets are done. Just waiting on the granite to be installed. Just a few small items to do yet like the trim work on the cabinets and tile the backsplash once the granite is in.

1/4 inch plasma cut steel plate to support the grante on the breakfast bar. This is where the wall used to be

Fridge is recessed into the wall and has cabinet side panels. On the right is where the closet used to be.

The stove....
